Description
Albumen carte-de-visite photograph (1860s) of a young Duke of Albany, youngest son of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, who died of haemophilia at the age of 30 of haemophilia. Leopold is shown in full-figure with legs crossed, leaning his elbow on a richly carved trolley, holding a stick in his left hand. Photographed in the studio of Robert Hills and John Henry Saunders, active in Oxford from 1856 and in Eton around 1863. Marked on the back “Hills & Saunders ”.
