Albumen carte-de-visite photograph (1860s) of the Irish-born Victorian journalist, best known for his editorship of The Art Journal. Hall is depicted from waist up, with his arms crossed. Photographed by Ferdinand Joubert, renowned for having invented new photographic techniques and engraved notable UK and Confederate State stamps. Marked on the back “Mr. F. Joubert”.
